Successful Affiliate Internet Marketing Tips

In order to become successful at affiliate Internet marketing you will need to finding hot products that sell online, and we need to understand what people are already looking for. Finding a sought after product is always the key to making money online. Of course, your don't need to actually sell the product yourself as there are plenty of commissions to be made from promoting a product or service as an affiliate. Affiliate commissions can be anything up to 75%!

There are now hundreds of thousands of affiliate programs on the Internet to promote, many of which claim to be the best.  Many of them try to give you the impression that all you have to do is use their banners and links and then wait for the money to start rolling in.  Although this can be the case if you already have a popular website that has lots of target traffic for the product you want to promote, this isn't the case for most people. However, once you have found a suitable affiliate program for your website, you then need to work out the best way to promote their product or service. This article lists the top 5 ways to successful affiliate internet marketing:

Choosing banners

With most affiliate programs, you are offered a variety of banners to stick on your website, but only a very few of them will be effective.  When you select any type of graphical advertising, you should try and keep the theme of your website in mind.  Even though graphical ads are meant to stand out and catch people's eye, they shouldn't be to the point where everything else on the page is completely ignored.  

You will need to consider that if you choose a banner that is large in size, it can take a long time to load on some of users browser's.  Therefore, it's recommended that you use banners no more than 15kb in size. You also need to be aware that many people block banners from displaying!

Pop ups

A lot of companies will now give their affiliates the chance of using pop up or pop under ads.  My opinion is that pop-ups aren't the way to go.  They can easily annoy visitors and are normally closed before they even have the chance to load.  You should instead go for pop-unders and those types of ad that only display once per visit.

Text link ads

Once of the most successful means of advertisting is text link ads.  They are easy on bandwidth, don't use a lot of space, and they easily be implemented into most types of page layouts.  Good text links offer some information as to why your visitor should investigate your offers.

Email advertising

Direct promotion via email advertising has really taken off over the last several years, although it has brought tons of spam with it. If you plan to use email as a method of advertising your affiliate products, you should stand behind what you sell and make yourself available to answer any questions. This type of advertising is normally driven by subscribers to your website or newsletter. When using this method of affiliate advertising ensure that you give your subscribers the option to un-subscribe.

Patience

If you feel confident that your site can generate good sales from a certain affiliate scheme, you should contact the vendor directly to negotiate an arrangement that gives you a better commission.  If they don't seem to enthused to begin with, you should remain patient as companies are approached every day with affiliates looking to make better deals.  Your best way to get their attention is show them a traffic report of the target traffic you already receive.

You should always keep in mind that most forms of advertising will take time to work for you.  No matter what methods you plan to use, give it some time before you make any type of decision. Although something may not happen overnight, it very well could in a few days or weeks. For example, if you publish a review of an affiliate product it can a few weeks for the search engines to list you article.

Affiliate Internet marketing is also a numbers game; so if it takes 100 impressions of an advert for you to make one sale, then don't expect more than 10 sales until you've reached 1,000 impressions of your advert. Obviously, the secret is to drive more traffic to your site and/or increase the number of subscribers to your website or newsletter.
