A Simple And Sweet Birds Eye View Of How The Search Engines Rank A Site

A great deal of internet and affiliate marketers are are doing their utmost to spread fear of Google, complete with lots of nonsense about SEO methods and backlink indexing. In reality, none of these are anything to be afraid of. It is merely a case of understanding them and making sure related knowledge is kept up to date.

It is true that affiliate marketers have repeatedly been 'slapped' by Google in the past, resulting in individuals being left to cope without income. The key issue, however, is that they would have known what would happen - and could probably have avoided it - if they had properly understood Google's mission to continually deliver results of high quality to the public.

First of all, what is Google's goal? The answer to this is quite simple. This search engine primarily exists to deliver high quality results to searching individuals. As far as Google is concerned, this means information, not a multitude of dodgy marketing tactics and pitches. This, by the way, applies to organic results as well as AdWords advertising.

So, what powers Google? What makes it so accurate that people continue to search for content on the web using their search engine? Simple. The power behind the search engine is a very complex algorithm, or a very large mathematical equation if you will, that serves to measure all pages in Google's index against a series of criteria, so that they can display the page that they deem to be most relevant to the person who is searching.

Whilst we can never be absolutely certain of what key factors this algorithm considers, what we do know is that a combination of the number of backlinks that you generate, diversity of those backlinks, and keyword placement on page are the biggest key considerations that the search engines refer to when ranking a page.

The main point here is, a large number of PPC advisors, affiliate marketers and more recently also many others competing in the realm of organic seach have suffered the wrath of Google. Had they taken the time to really understand Google's ultimate goal and the way it works, it would have made a whole lot of difference.

It only takes a moment's thought. Consistently delivering high quality, keyword rich content serving to solve problems, building quality content links and making sure of getting high back link indexing rates, combined with providing the facility for others to link to the content via social media and book marking will result in higher rankings - and maintain them no matter what Google comes up with. As long as the goal of a site/ page is to deliver the highest quality content possible to the reader/ end user, Google will rank it high enough to ensure that this content reaches users.
