Good Communication Holds the Key to IM Success

Internet marketing can be overwhelming, especially when you are a beginner and only starting to learn about the field. You've probably already browsed through several articles and forum posts that are full of information on how to be the next "big thing". They are going to seem to oppose each other. One list will state "patience" is the ingredient to becoming the next "it person". Another is going to state that you should have a great deal of business savvy. You'll also see some that will say that you should be very creative if you want to succeed. And, naturally, there are going to be dozens of sales pages claiming they have the software package or course to teach you how to be the next big thing.

Know this fact: The rest of these things are essential (not so much the software program, but the others). You must have patience, business savvy and creativity if you want to be successful. Of course, if you can't distinctly communicate with customers and clients, none of the rest of it will really matter.

There is more to good communication than creating a convincing sales page. You can hire a highly competent copywriter to take care of that for you. Good communication is more than having a stunning website with an extensive FAQ area. You can have a pretty site with an extensive FAQ section by engaging the services of seasoned designers and writers. Effective communication calls for being good with interpersonal communication and in direct copy too. So what are you supposed to do to be a good communicator?

1. Reply to every e-mail you get in one day. We aren't joking with you. You don't have to write a novel in the body of every email. All you have to do is tell the original writer that you have read the email and will be answering it in more detail soon. Try to include a snippet that references something the the other person has written. This helps the person you email tell your mail apart from the auto replies that other Internet marketers use.

2. Answer your phone. It's not a good idea to screen your calls. You should always try to answer the telephone by the third ring. Do so even if you REALLY don't want to talk to the person calling you. You'll be glad to know that there is, however, an exemption to this rule. You don't have to worry about being tied to your telephone 24/7. Instead of this, set distinct "business" hours that you can take phone calls. Put these hours up on your web site and mention them in your voice mail message. And, of course, every caller who leaves a message deserves a call back.

3. Follow up with people to make sure that your messages and emails have actually been received. This demonstrates to the your customer that you value him or her. You'll endear yourself further with the people you work with and who buy from if you ask them if they have any questions and follow up to be sure that they understood the points you were trying to make.
