Domain Names
I regulary buy domain names, some I use, some I re-sell, and others I just "park" for a rainy day. Over the years I've been ripped off by several company's renewal fees. Other times I've just had terrible customer service, or I've found it impossible to configure the domains myself using the domain registrar's online tools.
It is therefore extremely important to find a good, honest and reliable domain name registrar. One that will give you complete control of your domain, but not for a premium price. This is my list of the best domain name companies.
Officially the world’s #1 domain name registrar and now the main company I use for my domain names. GoDaddy.com’s domain registration fees are lower than most, but they offer an unrivalled control panel and configuration tools. Wether you want to change your name servers or put your domain name up for sale, then it can all be done in a few clicks. They also offer web hosting services, but I've not used these services so I cannot recommend them. You can checkout my recommended web hosting recommendations here.
I mainly use Namesco for my .co.uk domain name registrations. They are a UK based company so are ideal for domain names where you want to target UK customers. They are slightly more expensive than US based hosting companies, but offer a very good service backed up with good telephone support staff.
